Evelyn’s Movie Take

So we watched “Hoot” a few weeks ago. It’s a B- quality film for kids about three adolescents in Florida who discover a plot to build a new pancake house chain restaurant on land inhabited by endangered burrowing owls.

As I watched the movie, I kept thinking, I wonder how much of this plot Evelyn really gets.

Afterward, I asked Evelyn what she thought of the movie. She said she liked it.

But then, after a pause, she said, “But it doesn’t make any sense to build a house out of pancakes… that wouldn’t work at all! That would take a lot of pancakes and it wouldn’t last very well!”

I guess that answers my question about how a five-year old comprehends plot lines!
