“I’m almost three. My birthday is at the end of July… I mean at Christmas time. I like to go to the park and play with my friends. My friends are Ella and William and Sylvia and Elliott. I like to eat candy and hot dogs and lunch. I do not get along with animals. My favorite movie is Milo and Otis and Bug’s Life. I love myself.”

My friend Denice picked Evelyn up from school today. They were talking to each other in the car, and Evelyn brought up the fact that Charlotte always wants to be with her. She said that this caused problems because sometimes she wants to be by herself, and then she gets in trouble because there’s conflict.

Denice asked Evelyn why she thought Charlotte always wants to be with her.

Evelyn responded, “Charlotte wants to be with me because she thinks I’m famous.”

Denice, trying not to laugh, asked why Charlotte would think that.

“Well, it’s probably because I have such a beautiful singing voice.”

My sister Lauren told me today on the phone about something Evelyn said when I was away. Lauren was driving the girls to run some errands and Evelyn said, “Lauren, having you here is just like having Janel here.”
